Student Reviews Grief Support Certificate Program

Testimonials to the Grief Certification Training Program

As a participant in the Grief Support Certification training, I gained so much, both personally and professionally; Jane listened sincerely to each person, and accepted with reverence each person’s journey, no matter what “level” of grief they were experiencing. “Level” is my word; Jane made no distinction, valuing each person’s experience. Jane’s use of poetry, song, wise anecdotes and sayings helped participants who had known despair to step fully into the fire within, supported by the safety of the circle. Terror and pain were transformed and healed. (Donna Dolan, RSCJ, Program Director Domino Renewal Centre, Prince George, British Columbia.)

The work that I have done with Dr. Jane Simington in trauma recovery has helped me to finally understand myself and the intricate nature of the role that trauma has played in my life. Finally, someone has helped me. Professionally I am now better able to assist the clients that come into my office, something that I had always wanted to do, but did not have the required knowledge or skills to do so. Jane offers very valuable knowledge and expertise- both, long overdue. (Violet Soosay, First Nations, Samson Cree, Hobbema, Alberta.)

What Students have to say about our Grief Support Certification Program:

Too often our society and organizations (professionals/helpers) forget about the spiritual impacts of grief. I am more confident now to integrate this new knowledge and skill into practice. I understand more now the deep inner growth and transformational power of art and ritual to alleviate effects of grief. I feel more at peace with a once scary and confusing subject and the more I heal the more I can help others on their journey to healing. I am so grateful that I can now feel skilled in this area, for my loved ones and others who need assistance. (Lisa Currie Winnipeg, Manitoba)

The process is touching on every level of the human being. The teachings are so holistic and carefully planned to guide one through in a safe manner. Jane you are amazing. God bless you! Thank you for giving me this information and healing. Everything was as it should be.  Thank you to Jane and the work you do. The gift of healing at another level was my goal when I came and I have achieved this! The “Life Review” teaching and “The Hand to Heart” information was my favorite. Your teachings are so beautiful. (Harmony Dumas Winnipeg, Manitoba)

As Jane explained about the different functions, it gave me a better understanding about what grief can do to our systems.  The creative activities helped me understand better and I can’t wait to use the tools in my workshops.  (Marlene Ermineskin, Hobbema, Alberta)

Having the information in a binder is a wonderful idea as we can refer to it and keep on learning. I liked the variety of activities, the change from talking, to activity, to journalling, to sharing (4 part model)  is excellent.  The teaching and personal examples are very good. I likes the ceremonies using the four elements and I like learning i a group.  (Sr. Bernadine Fetter, Ursuline Community, Humbolt, Saskatchewan)

There is a comfort level that wasn’t there before.  I believe that I can deal with others grief far better, in the hope that their healing can start sooner. I now better understand what I have myself experienced.  This knowledge will make me effective in future experiences.  The sharing and openness of the participants, the safety I felt when sharing, no judgement, the camaraderie of the experience. (Donald LeGoffe, Lloydminster, AB.)
